Tampa Comprehensive Plan Update 2nd Draft Staff Review January, 2008
January 2008
The second draft of the Tampa Comprehensive Plan update is available on-line for your review and comment. This second draft is a 90% complete version of the entire plan. Whereas, the first draft of the plan was intended to only set forth its visionary aspects, this draft is intended to round out the story line and set forth cohesive policy direction to build a livable city for the City. When all is said and done, we hope that people have an understanding and appreciation for how complex a city can be, and how this comprehensive plan can guide an integrated approach to decision making for all people, from planners to average citizens to business people to special interest groups to elected officials.
There are some pieces of the plan that are still pending including text and the future land use map series. As this information becomes available, we will post it on the website and send an e-mail message out to our users group to keep you up-to-date. Use the feedback link on the website to send us your e-mail address if you would like to be added to our users group.
This website is simple to use. To the right of this narrative are 3 buttons that will give you access to the draft plan, the ability to provide feedback and to read feedback from other people. To the left is a pull down box where you can access various resources such as the current, adopted plan and the adopted Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR). There is also a calendar that lists comprehensive plan related events. The Planning Commission has a public hearing scheduled for Monday, March 24, 2008 to review and make a recommendation on the updated Tampa Comprehensive Plan. Tampa City Council will be holding a public hearing on Thursday, April 10, 2008 for the purposes of transmitting the plan to the Florida Department of Community Affairs.
Thank you for taking the opportunity to review and comment. Your feedback is important in this process. You are also invited to call us at the Planning Commission (813-272-5940) to talk to us further about the comprehensive plan. Simply call and ask to speak to anyone in the Tampa Planning Division of the Cities Planning Team.
Sincerely,
